Wall Art.

Sometimes it is a disadvantage for me to be able to look at things and figure out ways that they can be better.  A disadvantage because it usually occurs in my own home daily.  My husband will come home from work to find furniture relocated, decorations rearranged and new things he's never seen before, or has he?  Today I took some unused items from my old place and reused them to decorate my home.  I used a curtain rod, hung it on the wall in the living room (all by myself with my husband's drill), sewed some ties and hung some pictures from it to make a picture piece to fit the wall and add dimension to the room.  I didn't have to buy a thing!

Here's what you'll need:
-curtain rod with wall mounts
-picture frames, decorative tiles, or other items
-fabric sewn into strips or thick sturdy ribbon
-staple gun

Hang the curtain rod. Cut out two fabric strips 25 by 5 inches.  Fold in half so the right sides are inside and sew a straight line with a 1/4 inch seem allowance.  Turn right side out.  Iron so the seem runs down the middle of the back.  Take your largest frame or decorative item and measure 1 1/2 inches in from the outside, make a mark on the backside of the frame.  Fold the fabric strip in half, line it up so the outer edge lines up to the 1 1/2 inch mark.  Use your staple gun to attach the fabric strip.  Repeat for the other side making sure the strips are equal lengths so your picture hangs level.  Now you get the idea so have fun with the rest.

Let me know what you think!

My next project will be fixing up my witch hat for Halloween so come back soon!
